The Association for Scar Preservation (ASP) is a community network for de-stigmatizing body scars and promoting acceptance of different bodies.
Ableist social norms disapprove of scars due to their association with cosmetic disfigurement, illnesses, disabilities, and unnamed violence. This causes many individuals to censor their own wounds and scars in shame. ASP believes that coming to terms with the topology of one’s scar(s) is a necessary step to redefine social values of our bodies.

Currently, our website archives and shares scar stories from different scarred bodies. Here with us, you can browse our Scar Catalogue, and register an ASP ID Card for your scars. We encourage you to reflect on your relationship with you body by approaching your scars as entities with identities and unique characteristics.
In addition, our in-person programming builds community space for intimate conversations about what we learned from our scars. Click here to find out more about our in-person programming.
